Course Description:   Students receive instruction in grammar, vocabulary, writing process, and analysis of literature.

Course Objectives:

• To read, comprehend, and analyze significant literature.
• To respond to literature using text support and life experiences.
• To write competently for a variety of purposes.
• To communicate effectively using proper grammar skills.
• To understand the uses of grammar.

Text and Resources Required:

• 3 Ring Binder and 1 folder for writing
• Writing folder
• Loose-leaf notebook paper (and plenty of it)
• Pencils
• Dictionary
• School supplied subject books

Policies:

• Late papers will not be accepted this year.
• Make-up work and missed tests given with written excuse only.
• No make-up tests offered more than once.
• All supplies are required unless prior notice given by me.
• Cheating will result in a zero.
• Follow all student policies cited in handbook.

Grading Policy:

• Quizzes count once each.
• Tests, essays, projects count twice.
• Small writing assignments count once.
• Participation grade counts as a quiz grade
  • This grade is made up of homework and class participation

I will not be accepting late assignments this year unless there is a very good excuse.  Late work just creates more work for me and doesn’t teach the students about responsibility.  I will be posting assignments on the hall bulletin board as well as on the website (www.glennvillechristian.net).  Please check there regularly for updated work.  I always plan my projects at the beginning of the term so no excuse for not getting to work on it.
